What really happened after the red heifer ceremony in Israel?
In this episode of Sighted Moon, we continue our conversation with Byron Stinson as he reveals what happened in the days following the controversial red heifer ceremony—including the dispute that erupted almost immediately afterward.
Byron describes tensions surrounding the ceremony, unauthorized photographs that reached the Israeli secular press, questions over whether the red heifer and its ashes were considered pure, and why he ultimately chose to remain silent about the controversy for an entire year.
But perhaps the biggest question is this: What happened to the ashes?
According to Byron, representatives connected with the Temple Institute returned and collected approximately five gallons of ashes before Byron and his Jewish partner collected the remainder.
That raises an important question: If the red heifer was invalid or impure, why were the ashes collected?
Beyond the controversy, however, Byron believes something much larger is taking place—the restoration of the relationship between Judah and the scattered tribes of Israel. From Ezekiel’s prophecy of the two sticks becoming one to Zechariah’s picture of ten men taking hold of the garment of a Jew, this story may be about far more than a single red heifer.
Join Ryan Nall, Joseph Dumond, and Byron Stinson as we continue investigating the red heifer story firsthand and separate what actually happened from the rumors surrounding it.
